RED in history

The last part of my trend research explores the history of the Red trend. Here are some examples of designers and brands that have loved using red throughout the last century

red has been used in fashion for centuries. However, I decided to focus only on garments and designers from 1990-1999.

Versace is known for red gowns that flatter the female figure perfectly. this iconic cindy crawford gown is a perfect example of that. Simarly we see Diana in a beautiful crimson dress by victor edelstein.

Chanel

Spring Ready to Wear 1994

Chanel changed the way red garments were traditionally seen in fashion. up until this point we had only really seen red in gowns and other formalwear. Chanel pairing these red pants with the sterotypical faux pass of red and pink, worked in a a way no one was expecting. wgsn also predicited the pink and red trend would come back in aw18 and they were right, as noted in my previous entry.
conclusion
red has inspired fashion designers throughout the 90's.
designers will be forever playing with red to find the next best thing.
the trend forecasts on wgsn show that red is still as classic, strong and sexy as ever.
